Electrochemical sensors for monitoring animal physiology and improving their welfare

Postdoctoral research project as part of the WAIT4 project, supervised by CEA.

  • Title: “Electrochemical sensors for monitoring animal physiology and improving their welfare” ; INRAE.
    • Postdoctoral researcher: Laurabelle Gautier.
    • Affiliation: INRAE, GenPhySe.
    • Supervision:
      • Claire Verplanck (CEA-Leti).

Project Summary:

Physiology is one of the three components of animal welfare. Methods for analyzing physiological response dynamics and possible disruptions often require repeated blood samples at regular intervals.

Objective:

  • Develop minimally invasive wearable devices with microneedles for "on-device" detection of target molecule concentrations in animals.

Methodologies:

  • Design the devices to suit animal subjects.
  • Select the material chemistry.
  • Develop the protocol for device fabrication.
  • Conduct initial coupling trials of electrochemical sensors and biomaterials.
